Review: SeekHeart Buniva rabbit vibrator

Or at least, that’s what I told myself when I first took the SeekHeart Buniva rabbit vibe out of its box – because it looked a little scary, to be honest with you! The spindly, ribbed sections on its shaft almost looked like teeth in the maw of some great, gaping monster.

And yet, being the vaginal stuntwoman that I am, I was deeply curious – because I’d never seen a rabbit vibe that looked like this before, and trust me, I’ve tried a lot of them! So I lubed up the Buniva and put it through its paces. Here’s what I learned…

What is the SeekHeart Buniva?

A rabbit vibrator is a specific type of dual-stimulation vibrator – that is, a vibe that offers both external and internal stimulation at the same time. This one has two independently-operated motors, one for each “arm” of the toy: an internal one for vaginal pleasure, and a classic pair of little bunny ears for clitoral pleasure.

What sets the Buniva apart from other rabbits is the hollow, ribbed section at its center. There is a spindly texture on the parts of the toy that (at least theoretically) rub against both the upper vaginal wall near the entrance and the external part of the urethra/possibly the clitoral shaft, depending on how your anatomy happens to line up with the toy. (More on this later.)

The Buniva is made of silicone and ABS plastic, lasts about 55 minutes on a 90-minute charge, and is IPX6 water-resistant, meaning you can wash it in the sink or use it in the shower, but should not submerge it in water.

Things I like about the SeekHeart Buniva:

  • When I saw its instruction manual describe this toy’s vaginal arm as having “deep, rumbly vibrations,” I scoffed and said out loud, “Yeah, right; I’ll believe it when I see it,” because of how many sex toy companies lie about this nowadays – but actually, the Buniva follows through on that claim! The vibrations of this toy’s internal arm are deliciously low-pitched and pretty strong. I enjoyed using this part of the toy on my clit, getting myself turned on before moving on to penetration – and once it was inside me, the deep vibrations felt wonderful on my vaginal walls and especially my A-spot, which the toy’s slightly upturned, 5.5-inch-long shaft can hit easily.
  • This toy lends itself well to being thrusted during use, which is unusual for a rabbit vibe – typically they lose clit contact when you try to thrust them, but this one is designed such that the clitoral arm moves/bends with you as you push the toy in and out. As with any dual-stim toy, it won’t work for everyone, because different people have different amounts of distance between their clit and vaginal opening – but the flexibility of the Buniva’s clitoral arm makes it fairly adaptable in this regard.
  • Okay, let’s talk about that spiky-looking texture! It might appear to be painful, but when you look at it up close, it’s more like the texture on those “ribbed for her pleasure” condoms – which is to say, it’ll be painful for some people, but plenty of other people will enjoy it. Just make sure to lube up this area of the toy really well for optimal results. At its best, the ribbing on the vaginal arm massaged my G-spot on each thrust. I wasn’t able to take the toy deep enough for the clitoral arm’s ribbing to make contact with my body, but someone with a vaginal depth of at least 5.5″ would be able to feel it against either their clit or the external part of their urethra. Urethral stimulation certainly isn’t for everyone, but some people like it, especially since the urethra is part of the super-sensitive CUV (clitourethrovaginal) complex. I’ve rarely seen a vibe that targets this zone so directly.
  • I appreciate that this toy charges via USB-C, because I always have one of those around to charge my laptop + Kindle anyway. I wish more sex toy companies would use existing charging-port shapes like this, rather than making proprietary ones.
  • At the time I’m writing this, SeekHeart currently sells this toy for a wildly low $14.83 on Amazon, or $35.49 on their own website. I don’t know how they can afford to price it that low, but a vibe of this quality could easily be sold for $40-60, so this is an impressive price.
  • This is a decently quiet toy, especially on the lower settings.

Things I don’t like about the Seekheart Buniva:

  • This toy’s biggest flaw is, unfortunately, all too common: the vibrations of its clitoral stimulator are annoyingly buzzy/high-pitched and not particularly strong. Given that the majority of people with vulvas need clit stimulation to reach orgasm, it always perplexes me when companies seem to treat their dual- or triple-stim toys’ clitoral arm as an afterthought, when for many users it’ll be the most important component of the toy. If the Buniva’s clitoral arm was as rumbly and powerful as its internal arm, I’d be able to give this vibrator a more enthusiastic endorsement, but alas, it is not.
  • Although (as mentioned) I sometimes enjoy the toy’s ribbed texture against my G-spot, there are other times when it feels mildly scrapey/irritating. It’s crucial to lube up that part of the toy for maximal comfort – and you’ll also want to clean it super-duper-extra well between uses and pee after using it, to reduce the odds of a UTI.
  • Each of the toy’s 2 motors offers only 3 steady speeds followed by 7 vibration patterns. Most users prefer steady speeds, myself included, so I always wish there would be at least 5 of them, to allow for more variety and a smoother gradation between settings.
  • It’s rare that I feel strongly about a toy’s aesthetics, but I don’t like the color of this one. It’s a muted shade of brownish-red that reminds me of menstrual blood. (Although, hey, maybe that makes it ideal for menstrual masturbation!)

Final thoughts

I was surprised that this toy was able to bring me to orgasm, given that its clitoral vibrations are fairly buzzy and weak, and that I – like most people with my anatomy – only get off when there’s good clit stim going on.

But the Buniva does something interesting: it stimulates the internal parts of the clit as well, with its ripply texture, deep A-spot-focused vibrations, and thrustability. My orgasms with this toy would certainly feel better if its clitoral arm was rumblier and stronger, so that I could actually feel the clit stim at the moment of climax, instead of being slightly desensitized from the buzzy vibrations – but it’s a testament to this toy’s smart design that I can come with it nonetheless, due to how it massages my internal clit when I thrust with it.

If you prefer to keep your rabbit vibes stationary, this one probably isn’t for you, because it shines best when thrusted. But if you want a maximalist, ultra-textured rabbit that’ll surround your clit in vibrations from all sides while you thrust with it, the surprisingly affordable Buniva‘s got the goods. It’s not as scary as it looks, I promise.

Review: Lovense Lush Mini wearable vibrator

Happy new-Lovense-product day to all who celebrate!! 🎉 Lovense launched their newest vibrator today, the Lush Mini. They asked me to be one of the first people to review it, which always makes me feel like a vaginal VIP.

The Lush Mini is the latest iteration in Lovense’s line of Lush vibrators; I’ve previously reviewed the Lush 3 and Lush 4, so I was intrigued to see a slightly smaller version being released. These are G-spot vibes, meant to be “worn” vaginally: the bulbous internal arm presses against your G-spot while the slimmer external arm stays outside the body, on your clit.

They’re bulkier than something like a We-Vibe, so I wouldn’t recommend wearing one during penetrative sex, unless you adore feeling overstuffed! They don’t transmit much clitoral stimulation in the way that We-Vibes and Lovense’s own Dolce do – they’re all about G-spot stimulation. (They also lack a flared base, so they’re not anal-safe; get an Edge 2 if you want to experience Lovense’s amazing vibrations on your prostate.)

So, how different is the Lush Mini from its predecessors, and is it worth upgrading if you’ve already got a Lush? Let’s get into it!

As you can see, the main difference is size: the Lush Mini is 6 millimeters slimmer than the other Lushes (that’s about a quarter-inch). Accordingly, it’s 23% lighter, and its battery doesn’t last quite as long. It’s priced the same as the Lush 4.

Here are some things that are true of all three Lushes:

  • All of them are IPX7 waterproof, so you can get them wet and even submerge them in water without issue.
  • All of them can be controlled either via a button on the toy itself, or via Lovense’s app.
  • All of them are made of silicone and electroplated plastic.
  • All three vibes seem to use the same motor; they feel equally powerful and rumbly.

Things I like about the Lush Mini:

  • The quarter-inch difference in width between the Lush Mini and its predecessors may seem minor, but it makes a noticeable difference. I think a lot of users would prefer the smaller size, because it’s easier to insert even when you’re only mildly-to-moderately turned on (ideally with water-based lube!), whereas a larger Lush might require a bit more warm-up first for some users. I also find the Lush Mini more comfortable for long-term wear due to its smaller size, so I think it’s the better pick for surreptitious public-play scenes, especially hours-long ones.
  • This toy’s vibrations are every bit as wonderful as I’ve come to expect all Lovense vibes to be. They’re deliciously rumbly, and have an impressively wide range of intensities which you can customize quite precisely using the Lovense app.
  • Speaking of the app: I always sing the praises of Lovense’s Bluetooth functionality every time I review one of their products, but they really are doing the app-control thing better than any other sex toy company right now, IMO. Connecting a toy to their app is quick, easy, and intuitive. The app allows you to program your own vibration patterns or try someone else’s, control the vibe yourself or invite a long-distance partner to do so, and sync the vibrations to music or other sounds, among a cornucopia of other features. The vibrations respond quickly and seamlessly to my ministrations in the app. The whole interface is thoughtfully designed and encourages playful experimentation.
  • The Lush Mini’s neck is a bit shorter and possibly more rigid than the necks of previous Lushes, which allows it to maintain slightly firmer pressure against my G-spot during use, and helps keep it from sliding around. Once it’s on my spot, it usually stays there, unless I get really wet… which admittedly does sometimes happen, since this toy is prone to making me squirt, hands-free!
  • Interestingly, the external arm of the Lush Mini seems to conduct vibration significantly more than those of the previous Lushes. I still wouldn’t consider this a clitoral vibrator per se (unless you subscribe to the theory that the G-spot is actually just the back of the clit…), but it feels noticeably more pleasurable to me than previous Lush toys because it stimulates my clit more. I still don’t think I could get off from this toy alone, because I tend to need stronger clit vibration than G-spot vibration to reach orgasm, but it gets me a lot closer than any other Lush, and feels better during that process.
  • As with the other Lushes, the Mini’s shape is excellent for hitting the G-spot with minimal effort. The way it juts out to meet your spot is so cool and just feels right.
  • The Lush Mini’s ~4-hour battery life is impressive enough, but even more impressive is its “fast-charging” function: if you plug in the Lush Mini for just 7 minutes, it’ll charge up enough for an hour of play. This is an especially useful quality in a vibe you might want to wear out on a dinner date (or similar) like this one, since it sucks to realize your vibe is dead as you’re leaving the house for an impromptu public sexcapade. Avoid that whole nightmare by plugging in your Lush Mini for 7 minutes while you brush your teeth, style your hair, etc. before your date – easy-peasy.
  • Like most Lovense toys, this one is very quiet and therefore discreet. Love that.

Things I don’t like about the Lush Mini:

  • While the Mini’s smaller internal arm makes it more comfortable for long-term wear, the trade-off is: my orgasms with this toy inside me aren’t as intense as those with previous Lushes, simply because there’s less girth to squeeze around during those climactic muscle contractions. The difference is minor, though.
  • On principle it annoys me slightly that the Mini is priced the same as the Lush 4 ($129) because it seems like a smaller vibe should be cheaper, although realistically I know that the mechanics are largely the same and it probably costs about the same to make.

Final thoughts

There’s a lot to love about the Lush Mini, and I think many shoppers will gravitate toward it, rather than the other Lushes, because of its beginner-friendly petite form factor. It’s easier to insert, requires less warm-up, and is comfier for long-term wear than its predecessors, due to its slimmer silhouette. But the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and the Lush Mini shares tons of fabulous qualities with its older sisters: it’s strong and rumbly, quiet, waterproof, sturdily-built, and has great Bluetooth connectivity and battery life.

G-spot vibration isn’t always my jam, but the Mini’s vibrations are so satisfyingly rumbly that they add significantly to my pleasure no matter what else I’m doing. In one testing session, my partner even went down on me while the Lush Mini was inside me, nudging the external arm to the side so she could get at my clit – and the combo of her mouth with Lovense’s wonderful vibrations led to a breathtaking orgasm (complete with a bit o’ squirt) that left me feeling grateful to have a G-spot. This is the type of nifty sexual creativity that Lovense toys encourage.

If you want a G-spot vibe you can wear in public, or for hours at a time, the Lush Mini is an impeccable choice. Pair it with a Ferri panty vibe if you want more intense clit stimulation. The Lush 4 is still a solid option too, especially if you want something girthier to squeeze around. I don’t think there’s necessarily any reason to upgrade to the Lush Mini if you already own another Lush, unless you think the smaller size or speedier charging would make a big difference for you. But as for first-time users, I think a lot of them will go for the Lush Mini – it’s just so damn cute, useful, and pleasurable!

Review: XReverie Rilva rabbit vibrator

Every time I review a sex toy, I start by reading its instruction manual cover-to-cover – and one of the funniest parts of the manual is often the verbs that the sex toy company has chosen to express what its toy’s various functions do. I’ve seen everything from “slapping” to “squeezing” to “tickling”… and in this way, the XReverie Rilva rabbit vibrator stood out from the crowd, because it offers “digging” and “swelling.” What the hell does that mean? Let’s find out together, shall we?!

What is the XReverie Rilva rabbit vibrator?

Like most rabbit vibrators, this one has an internal arm that’s meant to be used vaginally, and an external arm that’s meant to be used clitorally.

In this case, the internal arm has a couple of different functions:

  1. The tip of the shaft strokes up and down in a “come hither” motion meant to stimulate the A-spot. (Yes, they specifically reference the A-spot in their product copy! Yay, more A-spot awareness!) Identified by XReverie as “digging,” I would moreso call this “stroking” or “massaging.”
  2. The middle of the shaft rhythmically undulates, expanding and contracting, or as XReverie calls it, “swelling.” It’s meant to stimulate the G-spot, and in practice, I’d say it feels more like light tapping against that area.

The external/clitoral arm of the toy is more straightforward – it just vibrates – but its shape is non-standard for a rabbit; it reminds me of a seal balancing a ball on its nose.

The Rilva is made of silicone and ABS plastic, and it currently retails for $54.99 USD. It lasts about 50 minutes on a 90-minute charge.

Things I like about the XReverie Rilva rabbit vibrator:

  • I’m always thrilled to see new toys coming out that target the A-spot specifically, and this one does a decent job of it! The tip of its shaft feels very similar to a partner stroking my spot with one or two fingers – which is my jam, man, as practically anyone I’ve ever fucked could tell you. There are 3 steady stroking speeds followed by some more erratic patterns; I liked that the steady speeds started relatively slow, instead of jackhammery (I often find myself saying “Slower, please!!” when partners are fingerbanging me). It’s a stroking motion, not a thrusting motion, but the sensation reminded me a lot of Fun Factory Stronic toys (RIP), in the way it hit my spot rhythmically again and again.
  • I dig that the internal and external arm can be controlled separately from one another, each with their own button. You can also pause one of the arms by double-clicking its button, if (for example) the clitoral vibrations start to overwhelm you and you want to focus on internal sensations for a while.
  • The Rilva comes with a lovely velvety storage bag… which is especially important because its soft matte silicone is very prone to picking up lint/dirt/etc.
  • It’s IPX6 water-resistant, meaning you can wash it in the sink or take it in the shower, but shouldn’t submerge it.

Things I don’t like about the XReverie Rilva rabbit vibrator:

  • Unfortunately the biggest issue with this toy is that its stroking function slows down under pressure. Even just the minor vaginal squeezing I do during mild-to-moderate arousal was enough to hinder its motion significantly – which was a bummer, because the stroking felt amazing until then! IMO, if you’re designing a toy for vaginal use, it should be able to withstand some basic Kegel flexing without buckling under the pressure.
  • The shaft of the toy also starts to overheat after a few minutes, especially if you’re putting extra pressure on the motor, by, uh, [checks notes] becoming sexually aroused while it’s inside you. It never got hot enough to hurt me or anything, but it was still unsettling.
  • The clitoral arm is fairly useless for me: its vibrations are irritatingly buzzy (albeit surprisingly strong, especially on the high end) and its shape inevitably focuses those vibrations onto the hypersensitive tip of my clit, rather than the clitoral shaft or hood. Some people would enjoy this laser-focused intensity, but I sure ain’t one of ’em.
  • I don’t know why soooo many toys I’m reviewing here lately have had 3 steady speeds followed by 7 patterns, but I’m tired of it!! Give us more steady speeds and fewer patterns!! Both the internal and external arms of the Rilva have this issue.
  • I can’t even really comment on the part of the shaft that “swells” against the G-spot, because I barely felt it. It’s inventive, though!
  • The Rilva is kinda loud, although that’s normal with mechanical stroking toys like this one.

Final thoughts

Wish I liked this toy more, but alas, the XReverie Rilka rabbit vibe has some significant mechanical issues, including its tendency to slow down under any pressure, its troubling habit of overheating, and its gratingly buzzy motor.

But I hope more sex toy companies (including XReverie!) keep making A-spot-focused toys, because this spot deserves more love. As in, the kind of love that doesn’t slow to a crawl the minute you get turned on.

Review: Lovense Ferri panty vibrator

When mega-popular sex toy company Lovense asked me to review their Ferri panty vibe recently, I thought, Wait… Haven’t I already reviewed that?! – but apparently I have not! I have written about it countless times for various publications, though, because I’ve adored it for years – so I was glad to have the opportunity to tell you about it in more detail here!

Spoiler alert: this is one of those very rare reviews where I have almost nothing negative to say at all about the product. As they say in showbiz: “No notes!”

What is the Lovense Ferri?

Ever wanted to use a vibrator secretly in public, while someone else controls it from their phone? I certainly have! Many sex toy companies have attempted to make a hands-free vibrator for this type of use-case. This is perhaps one of the most difficult types of vibrators to design and engineer (at least, that would be my educated guess as a critic-but-not-maker of sex toys), because they have to be comfortable, stable once situated, quiet, and easy to control surreptitiously (usually via a smartphone app or an included remote) – not to mention, powerful and pleasurable!

Some of these toys require some degree of penetration, like We-Vibe-style toys or Lovense’s own Lush. Personally, I tend to prefer an option that’s all external and doesn’t require any penetration – not only because clitoral stimulation is what gives me most of my pleasure anyway, but also because my vag will eventually start to get sore if I keep something inside there while I’m sitting, walking around, etc. for hours on end, even if I slip away to a bathroom to re-lube periodically.

The Ferri solves this problem neatly. It’s a small vibrator that you tuck into your panties (or any other close-fitting style of underwear); it’s contoured to cup the vulva beautifully, curving along the mons and onto the clit. (Folks with penises seeking a vibe for hands-free use might consider the Gush.) Most cleverly, a separate magnet comes with the Ferri, which you can affix to the outside of your underwear, holding the vibe in place. You can then control the vibe via Bluetooth using the Lovense app (available for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC). While the Ferri obviously doesn’t have to be used in public, that is where it shines, and where the cleverness of its many features becomes most evident. Let’s talk about ’em…

Things I like about the Lovense Ferri:

  • The Lovense app is just so fucking cool, and so well-designed. I praise it every time I review a Lovense toy, because it really is that good – and it’s the reason I always recommend Lovense products when people ask me about long-distance sex toys. In the app, you can use sliders to precisely control your vibe yourself, or invite someone else to control it from near or far; you can craft your own vibration patterns, loop them, or try out patterns that other people have designed; you can make your vibe vary based on the music/sound levels in the room you’re in, or respond in real-time to interactive videos or video games; you can even set an alarm and get woken up by vibration. Other companies have attempted to do what Lovense is doing, but none so effectively (at least none that I’ve tried), not only because their app is so robustly designed but also because their toys’ connectivity is way more consistent than that of other brands.
  • The vibrations are sufficiently rumbly, with a wide range of intensities that get plenty strong enough for me on the high end. In my view, a vibrator has to be rumbly to be successful in a public teasing scene, because you’re typically going to keep the vibrator in exactly the same spot for several minutes at a time, and buzzier vibrations would just numb you out – whereas rumbly ones continue to feel pleasurable for way longer. I think I could actually get off with this vibe in public, if not for my pesky social anxiety – but I can definitely get off with it in private, especially with the addition of some kind of rhythm or pressure from squeezing my thighs together (or having someone grind their thigh against my vulva…).
  • The Ferri is shaped excellently to target my clit, and I imagine many other people’s clits as well. Its gentle curve presses into my clit easily, and its ribbed texture gives me something to grind against if I rock back and forth slightly in my seat (water-based or oil-based lube makes this more pleasurable).
  • The magnet is really, really strong, so the vibe stays affixed to my underwear even as I walk around. On the rare occasions when it loses contact with my clit, it’s always because my underwear itself has shifted, not because the vibe has – and it’s easy to surreptitiously nudge it back into place under the table if I’m sitting at a restaurant or bar.
  • While I wouldn’t call it silent by any means, the Ferri is a pretty quiet vibrator, and it likely wouldn’t be audible at all in a noisy public environment like a bar or club. Just be careful when you sit down on a hard surface, like a metal chair or wooden barstool; the vibe might clatter against it, depending on how you’re sitting.
  • The Ferri lasts an impressive 3 hours and 15 minutes on an hour-long charge. On standby mode (i.e. connected to your phone via Bluetooth, but not vibrating yet), the Ferri can last up to 100 hours. I particularly appreciate long battery lives and short charging times when it comes to public-play toys, because you might impulsively decide to grab one as you dash out the door for a dinner date, and it sucks to discover that it’s dead. Even if it is dead, you can plug it in for a few minutes while you brush your teeth, get dressed, etc. and it’ll have enough juice for an evening tryst by the time you’re ready to go.
  • It’s waterproof, which makes it super easy to clean… and also means that you can keep on vibin’ even if you get caught in a torrential downpour on your way home from dinner. Alleyway makeout in the rain while a vibe pulses in your panties, anyone?

Things I don’t like about the Lovense Ferri:

  • The only complaint I have about this toy is that the Lovense app randomly logs me out of my account more often than I’d prefer (maybe like once every 2-3 months), which sometimes leads to an annoying horny scramble to find my login information when I really just want to get off (or let someone else get me off). Not sure what causes this, but even my app-developer wife gets annoyed by it, so it’s gotta be fixable, right?!

Final thoughts

A while ago, a friend texted me asking for sex toy advice. He wanted to buy his partner a panty vibe, had a few options in mind, and wanted my opinion on which was best. Without hesitation, I said, “Just get the Lovense Ferri.”

I really do think it’s the best panty vibe on the market right now, and I say that as someone who used to be a hater about the entire panty-vibe genre. This vibe actually gets it right, and has shown me that surreptitious public scenes can be fun, hot, and easy – rather than being a technological nightmare where you lose your boner from frustration after the third time you have to reconnect the Bluetooth!

It’s not often that I feel like doing a scene in public, but when I do, I tend to reach for either one of my Njoy Pure Plugs, an Uberrime vaginal plug, or the Lovense Ferri. They never let me down!

This is a multi-functional, detachable toy – it’s practically the Swiss army knife of sex toys! – so I’m going to write about each component of the toy individually, and then about how they all come together in a synergistic symphony. Let’s dive in…

 

One toy, two parts

Picture, if you will, a standard rabbit vibrator – except that the clitoral arm can be detached from the internal arm, so that each component can be used separately if you so desire. That’s the BeYourLover Fatima.

In this case, the clitoral portion of the toy uses pressure-wave technology (à la Womanizer/Satisfyer/Rose toys) rather than vibration. The internal/vaginal part of the toy (which is not anal-safe, FYI) vibrates and also thrusts. (That’s just an overview; more details to come in the sections below.)

Pros of the toy being made up of two detachable parts:

  • When you’re in the mood to, you can use either part of the toy on its own without needing to involve the other one. This is great if, for instance, you like to warm up with some clit stimulation before jumping straight to penetration.
  • That being said, although you can use the toy’s components separately, they are wirelessly connected to one another via Bluetooth, so the clitoral arm can essentially act as a remote control for the internal arm, which makes the toy overall easier to use.
  • Unlike most other dual-stimulation vibrators, this one will fit just about every vulva, regardless of the distance between clit and vaginal opening, because you can always detach the halves from each other.

Cons:

  • The way that the toy’s two parts can be ‘attached’ isn’t particularly secure; I don’t think there’s a magnet or anything else holding it in place, you just kinda jam the clitoral arm into its appointed hole as far as it’ll go and then hope it’ll stay. As you’d expect, it therefore dislodges a fair bit during use, especially when using the toy’s thrusting function – so I mostly ended up holding the clitoral portion in one hand, detached totally from the vaginal arm, which stayed inside me.
  • Naturally, when you’re holding the clitoral arm of the toy in one hand, you lose the ability to use the toy (as a whole) hands-free or one-handed, which sorta defeats the purpose of using a dual-stim toy in the first place.
  • Somewhat egregiously, you have to recharge each part of the toy on its own, as if they were two separate toys. I wish both could be charged at the same time while attached to one another instead.
  • When you turn off one component of the toy, the other component turns off too. You can turn it right back on again if you want to use it on its own, but it’s annoying that this happens at all.

Clit-warming technology

Quick-press the button featuring a thermometer icon on the toy’s clitoral arm and you’ll activate its self-heating function. Supposedly this heats up both the clitoral part and the internal part of the BeYourLover Fatima, although that wasn’t my experience.

Pros:

  • The clitoral heating function works quickly and pretty damn well. It never got too hot for my comfort (supposedly it reaches about 42° Celsius), but felt warm enough to pair well with oral sex fantasies. It was a relaxing sensation, too, like my clit was at a spa!
  • The heating button flashes to let you know when the function is activated, and you can turn it off whenever you reach your desired heat level.

Cons:

  • I wasn’t able to get the vaginal arm to heat up, although it’s supposed to. Only the clitoral heating function worked for me.
  • There doesn’t seem to be an auto-shutoff for the heating function, so theoretically it could overheat if you leave it on for too long, although I didn’t experience that in my testing.

 

Thrusting is a must

The internal arm of the BeYourLover Fatima has a self-thrusting function. It’s only the tip of the toy (2 inches or so) that actually thrusts. There are 2 steady thrusting functions, followed by 5 patterns which are more irregular.

Pros:

  • This thrusting function is unusually quiet. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely still audible, but it’s not gratingly loud and mechanical-sounding like many other thrusters.
  • The thrusting feels good and adds to my pleasure, albeit not quite as intensely as I was hoping, for reasons I’ll describe below.

Cons:

  • Two steady speeds is really not enough, especially since the first one is already quite fast. My kingdom for even just one slower speed, so I don’t feel like I’m starting a session with jackhammer-esque speedy pounding. (I’d get back on Tinder if that’s what I wanted!) After the two speeds is a handful of patterns, most of which have too much space between thrusts to be useful as anything more than a frustrating tease.
  • If you try to control the thrusting via the button on the vaginal arm (rather than via the button on the clitoral arm), you have to double-click it every time you want to turn the thrusting function on or change to a different thrusting mode. I kept accidentally either single-clicking it (which engaged vibration instead) or long-pressing it (which turns the entire toy off).
  • I thought this toy was gonna hit my A-spot, but I think its shape and length aren’t quite right for that; it always feels like it’s almost hitting the spot but not quite. Your mileage may vary, since your vag may vary!
  • As with many self-thrusting toys, this one tends to slip out of your vag gradually over time, so you gotta either hold it in place by hand or anchor it there with a pillow or similar between your legs.

…Oh yeah, and it vibrates

The internal arm, that is. I don’t really care about vaginal vibration that much – my internal erogenous zones prefer motion and pressure over vibration – but some people dig it.

Pros:

  • There are 3 steady speeds, which is better than 2. That’s probably the most generous thing I could say here. (There’s also 5 vibration patterns, and as established, I don’t tend to like patterns much.)

Cons:

  • My biggest problem with the BeYourLover Fatima as a whole: If you want to use the thrusting function and the clit-stimulating function at the same time, then you will be forced to also use the vibrating function. There is no way to turn it off, so far as I can tell, without also turning off one or both of the other functions. This is battery-inefficient for those of us who’d rather just feel the thrusting + clit stim, and is particularly frustrating because of my next point:
  • These buzzyish vibrations drown out the subtleties of most other sensations, including the Fatima’s thrusting and especially its delicate pressure-wave clit stim. When I turn up the intensity of the clit portion in hopes of being able to feel it, it turns up the internal vibration too, drowning out the clit stim even more. This is ultimately why the Fatima can’t get me off.
  • The button that controls the toy’s vaginal arm is placed on the very tip of its handle, so I frequently bump it by accident when trying to push the toy deeper, resulting in an unexpected setting change, or sometimes in the toy shutting off altogether. Needless to say, this is irritating and distracting.

 

This thing sucks… your clit

As mentioned, the detachable clitoral arm of the BeYourLover Fatima uses pressure-wave technology, stimulating your clit with rhythmic air-waves. It has 7 modes.

Pros:

  • These pressure waves feel really good! They have a low-pitched ‘rumbliness’ to them that I find much more satisfying than many other air-pulse toys at this price point, which stimulates my clitoral network in super enjoyable ways.
  • The ‘mouth’ of the toy is well-shaped and well-sized, for my clit at least, with a diameter of about 1″. It creates a soft, comfortable seal around my clit when properly lubed, and stimulates more of the clitoral shaft rather than just the tip.
  • All 7 of this clit stimulator’s settings are steady speeds – no patterns to be found here. Hurrah! The gradation from speed to speed is gentle, not jarring.
  • The buttons on the clit stimulator also control the toy’s vaginal arm, if it’s turned on. This is a much easier and more convenient way of cycling through thrusting speeds or vibration speeds without having to move your hand. The buttons are also easy to locate by feel.
  • I like the ergonomic S-shape of this clit stimulator; it’s easy to hold onto and move around as needed. It’s sort of like a sperm-shaped little Satisfyer Penguin.

Cons:

  • Whenever I tried to use the Fatima with its two parts attached to each other, it didn’t maintain suction on my clit very well, because the thrusting action often caused the seal to dislodge. This is a pretty crucial flaw in the toy’s execution. As stated, I tended to use the two components detached from one another instead, for this reason among others.

More than the sum of its parts?

Man, I love when sex toy companies take a big swing, innovation-wise. I’ve never seen another sex toy company attempt anything quite like what BeYourLover has done with the Fatima. But did their gamble pay off?

Overall pros:

  • It is genuinely cool to have a toy that does so many things, and even does some of them well! With all the different configurations in which you could use this toy, it’s like having a few different toys in your arsenal for the price of one. That price, by the way, is currently $69.99, which I think is fair for what you get: a self-heating pressure-wave clit stimulator that acts as a remote control for a vibrating vaginal thruster.
  • The clitoral stimulation the Fatima offers is delightfully rumbly and pleasurable, with a nice variety of 7 speeds to choose from.
  • Being able to use one toy as a remote control for the other is really clever, and makes it so that using this toy feels like an integrated experience even when the parts are detached from one another.
  • It’s IPX7 waterproof! Yay!

Overall cons:

  • The toy’s vibration, which cannot be disengaged while other functions are engaged, drowns out a lot of the pleasure that those functions could otherwise provide. As a result, I was only able to get off with the Fatima if I either used the clit stimulator by itself (so I could actually feel it), or used the thrusting function by itself while using a different vibe on my clit.
  • It makes sense that this toy has a battery life of only about an hour, given its numerous power-hungry functions – but that’s aggravatingly short nonetheless, and one wonders if the toy would have a better battery life if its vibration function was separable from its other functions. It’s also annoying and inconvenient that each component of the toy has to be recharged separately.
  • The way the toy’s two components attach just isn’t secure enough, which results in mishaps like the clit stimulator losing suction or falling off altogether.

The Fatima is a thrillingly unique toy, and I’m sure it’ll make some folks very happy. But as for me, it mostly made me happy insofar as it’s a fascinatingly inventive design that could be an indicator of where sex toy technology is headed. 👀
